Why get your garden designed?

Updated: Nov 15, 2022

You may have a garden that you’ve inherited with a house move, a garden which you’ve added to over the years or a blank canvas following the purchase of a new build property. Whatever the situation, a well designed garden can add value to your home in terms of resale but also in terms of wellbeing and enjoyment of the outdoors.

The garden is now often referred to as the extra room in the house, and with this in mind, it’s important to furnish that space with the right plants and landscaping so that you can enjoy it for years to come. Just as you invest in the design of the interior of your home, the garden should be treated in the same way to achieve balance and harmony as an extension of your well loved abode. By having your garden designed you avoid cramming your garden full of one off plant purchases that can result in a random, disorganised and imbalanced garden that lacks seasonal interest.

Good garden design is delivered by meeting your needs whilst creating interest, cohesion and unity which is pleasing on the eye and great for enjoyment of your outdoor space.

As a garden designer, I will listen to how you want to use the garden, your knowledge (or not) of plants and gardening plus what you want to achieve from having it designed (you don’t need any gardening or horticultural experience by the way…the important part is that you want to have a garden you love and enjoy spending time in). It’s my responsibility to understand what plants will work in your garden, what style of garden you prefer and what you want to do with the space. I’ll create a full brief of agreed requirements from which to work and from this a garden design will be created.

Having a well designed garden means you save time and money in the long term because the plants chosen will be right for your plot, as will the landscaping and the consideration of your practical requirements.

If you’d like to discuss how I can help create a garden for you to enjoy, please contact me I’d be delighted to hear from you – Nadine.
